Wired Ring Doorbell

Easy install and activation. Also purchased a chime but this device also works with all my alexa devices. Can view my porch using alexa show. Initially had an issue my tv switching to firestick when bell rang but easily resolved by deactivating firesticks in alexa app for doorbell device.This is my first ring doorbell and couldn’t be more pleased with performance and value !

I have power at my door so I didn't need one with batteries. This one works just fine. The image is clear, the sound is not bad and it's been working without any hassle. I disabled motion detection because even when you can specify an area to check, it was sending me alerts for motion outside the range. Maybe this will be fixed later on as it seems a software issue. I would also love to be able to access the ring's video feed from outside the app, but I don't think that will happen. Other than that, I'm loving the ring.***REVISION AFTER 1 MONTH**One more thing that I've found is that if there is a power outage and for some reason the wifi is not back, ring will stop trying after some time. Even when the wifi is back, the ring won't automatically connect. There is no restart button in the application, so you will need to cut power to the ring device to restart. I think there should be a restart option in the application!

I returned the Ring doorbell I had previously tried (the standard version) because (1.) I did not need the battery feature, and (2) . It was too wide for the space between my storm door and the side wall. This fits snugly and works just fine in that area. Keep in mind it will NOT ring your home chime (not sure why it couldn't) and you will have to disable it if you have one. The standard version WILL. No problem for me, I enabled my Echo Dot to let me know that someone is at my front door when the button is pushed. Just had one glitch so far. I had a delivery from and got no notification even though it was placed there by the driver right by the door (got the delivery pic from !). But, most other events are being "seen" and recorded and thus sent to the Ring cloud for later viewing. This smaller size and price unit will no doubt be a good seller even though it has a few missing features. The videos are very clear and the sound quality is much better than I expected at this price point. Take a few minutes to adjust the motion boundaries if you don't want every car and person triggering the alerts. If you have a doorbell transformer for power, and don't mind your home chime being disabled, this would be a good choice. Thanks to Jamie Siminoff for coming up with this idea!Update 3/23After adding a wedge kit to point the camera down a bit, it "sees" my front porch much better. Also, it is nice to have a door chime, but since we have an echo dot, we get a nice, cheery announcement... "someone's at your front door". She also tells us if motion is detected in the front door area, even if they do not ring the bell. The motion settings help isolate areas that are out of our concern. The clear video and sound are remarkable for a product in this size and price category. I am upping the rating to 5 stars as a result. Also need to mention that Ring support for my doorbell has been very helpful. A Ring specialist (Luis) helped me configure my bell mounting to maximize coverage and eliminate missed events. Thanks!! If you have a wired doorbell (or want to add a doorbell transformer) this small, compact unit may be just what you have been looking for.

First off let me say that everyone who gave bad reviews for it not working with your existing chime didn't read the descriptions before they purchased. ITS WAS CLEARLY STATED!This is a great doorbell! I did the bundle with the chime because I knew it wouldn't work with my old chime in my house. The ring chime was a little buggy at first but I was able to get it working great. I also purchased the wedge so I could have it angled just right on my siding.I would HIGHLY recommend this new Ring doorbell, it feels and looks like a quality product. It's by far the best priced option for a smart doorbell and its very user friendly.

The Ring Video Doorbell was simple to install. It didn't take long because the wires from the old doorbell button were long enough to reach the Ring Video Doorbell button. It just took a couple of minutes to put the jumper on the old doorbell that supplies the power to the camera. It took a while to setup the motion sensing area on my phone app because I have a small decorative flag in front of my house that would create enough motion on windy days to set off the alarm. I did get the chime also for my wife to hear it ring and I selected a ringtone she liked, I just have to convince her to load the app on her smartphone so she'll hear the doorbell while out in the yard especially when she's expecting a package to be delivered.
