There was a time that our cat was lean and fit, but as the time progressed he has gotten rather...large. We began looking for a solution and started with a change in food. When that didn’t seem to work, at the suggestion of our veterinarian, we began to look for something to help with portion control. We decided on this automatic feeder and have been very happy with it so far. Its measures out exact portions so you can adjust your cat’s diet as necessary and can program it to feed your cat at certain times of the day. One of my biggest concerns with an automatic feeder was that it wouldn’t feed our cat due to a malfunction or running out of food. This has all the features to put my mind at ease. It alerts you when the food gets low, when there is a jam, and even has backup batteries in case the power goes out. The coolest feature has to be the ability to record a message to play for your cat whenever it is meal time. Our cat doesn’t quite respond to it, but it’s still a really neat extra feature.
We are heading on vacation for two weeks, and I have an outdoor stray who I feed small meals twice a day. I didn't want to let our neighbor's know we were going out of town, so we bought the PetLibro feeder to take care of him while we're away. I have tested the portions and the time the food will last in the tank. He eats only a small amount, so it will work out perfectly. For larger pets, you would need to refill it sooner obviously. It's on our covered porch out of rain and elements, but still where he is easily able to get to it. I have it set on timers, and it even records my voice calling him. It's perfect! Just what I needed so I didn't have to worry about him while we were away.
The overall quality of the product is amazing. It is really well designed and has a nice quality build. At first, I tough the portion size was small, but then I realized you can serve up to 20 portions at the same time, which means having such a small portion is an excellent option to better control the amount of food. The controls can look confusing at first, but after a quick manual read, I found it to be easy and simple to use.The empty sensor works like a charm, I still trying to see if it has an overfill sensor or not since, but so far I did not have any overfill problems. If I have to complain it will be the light bar. It big and bright, It's nice in case of an error, where you can see the red bar far away, but when everything is ok the light is just too bright at a point that my cat was not comfortable close to it. I had to cover it with electrical tape leaving only one small gap. Much better.EDIT: It has an overfill sensor. The food will stop being served if the bowl is full and will resume being dropped once it has space. Nice.
I'd like to start by saying I have no idea why is asking me to rate the "thickness" of an automated cat feeder as though that's a make or break feature, but let's just say that this machine has a Goldilocks thickness.I looked at a bunch of these and went with this one because it holds enough food (but not so much to be bulky), seemed easy to program, doesn't look ugly like most feeders, and has battery backup but runs via a cable so you don't burn through D batteries. It's early days, but it checks all the boxes so far. I don't use the programmable voice function because I don't know why I'd want cats to associate my voice with food. And besides, the cats stare at the thing for about three minutes before the food is dispensed anyway. I also like that the little blue light turns red when the food level is low so you know to fill it before the cats stage a mutiny. All in all I recommend it, but I've only used it for a couple days.
WHY DID I BUY THIS: Once upon a time we had a regular gravity fueled dry food feeder for our cats. In the beginning, it worked well, but overtime the cats began to distribute the food to the floor, emptying the container. It was a mess. We would wake up to mounds of dry food on the floor. So we decided it was time for a change.WHY DID I CHOOSE THIS: I do my research. This product had good reviewer, met my requirements for features, and the price was right. The price of this produce was medium-low compared to similar products.WHY DO I LOVE THIS PRODUCT: The product was easy to setup and easy to update. At first our portion setting was too large, It took about a minute to update the settings. The product is both plug and battery operated, so the cats won't starve if the power goes out. It holds a little more than our previous feeder. We've been using it over a week and we have only been satisfied with it. To date, the cats have not scooped the dry food from the feeding area onto the floor, but if they did, they'd be limited to only the serving available. So the mess would be smaller, which is nice to know.
